Ms. Atkinson’s home fragrances · The first scent
Some things are inherited without ever being wrapped or handed over. A way of loving. A piece of advice. A memory. The feeling of home.
Marielle is a sweet amber candle in a large ceramic bowl. It carries a letter from a mother to her daughter, engraved in the base of the bowl and read when the last of the wax has gone. The candle is designed to burn away. The message is designed to remain.
Inspired by Mary Effie Anthony Atkinson · An heirloom, made to be passed down
Over time
You receive it. You light it. The wax falls, and the letter engraved beneath it begins to appear. When the last of the candle is gone, the message is revealed. You refill it. You keep it. One day, you pass it on.
01 · Receive
A wide ceramic bowl, filled to the brim with sweet amber wax. Beneath it, unseen, a letter from a mother to her daughter.
02 · Light
Each lighting is a moment: a mother and daughter in the same room, a daughter remembering her mother, an evening that matters.
03 · Reveal
The wax falls, and line by line the engraved letter comes up through it.
04 · Read
When the last of the candle is gone, the bowl is empty and the message is all that is left.
05 · Refill
A Marielle refill brings the scent back. The letter stays engraved beneath every refill, because the vessel is meant to remain.
06 · Pass on
One day the bowl goes from you to your daughter, with the letter still in its base, and from her to hers.
This year’s letter
“My sweet girl, chase your dreams without cease, but don’t forget to rest when your heart calls for it. You carry the tenacity of the daughters who came before you; their courage and quiet strength flow in your veins.
Remember, life loves those who live it fully, and you are intelligent, creative, and resourceful. There will be people who teach you lessons, and others who test you, but let their shadows never dim your light. Like amber, may your warmth linger, golden and enduring, a reminder that even when the world is not all rosy, your spirit shines, soft, radiant, and unshakable.”
Engraved in the base of every bowl this year.
The story
It began with Michelle’s mother. Pamela Michelle Aboagye named her studio after Mary Effie Anthony Atkinson, who died several years ago and who was her closest friend: the first person she told things to, the one whose warmth and good sense she still reaches for. Marielle is the letter Michelle would have wanted to find, and the one she hopes to leave for her own daughter.
But it was never only about one family. A Letter to Her Daughter is for every mother who has things she hopes her daughter will carry: love, strength, advice, tenderness, and the things that were never properly said. The fragrance is the physical form of that letter. The candle is not the story. It carries it.

The scent
Marielle fills the room slowly. Rich resin and a honeyed sweetness melt into a low, lingering glow, the colour of the hour when the candles are lit. Intimate and quietly luxurious, it burns like a memory you want to keep: smooth and feminine, with a subtle, elegant depth.
The letters
Each year Marielle carries a new letter, so each year’s bowl is its own edition and no two years say the same thing.
Or commission your own. A letter to your daughter, or to your mother, your father, your grandmother, a son, a sister, anyone you want your words to stay with. Send the studio what you want them to find, and it is engraved into the base of a bowl made for them. A line, a blessing, a whole letter, initials and a date. The candle is refillable, so the bowl and its letter stay in the family: a gift that passes down a generation. Allow six to eight weeks from approval of the final wording.
The wording is yours. The engraving stays restrained, elegant and intimate.
